Throughout my life, I have had many relationships and experiences that have taught me many lessons about boundaries. When we are faced with setting priorities we have to be thinking of the boundaries we have in place. Setting boundaries will help you:
- From getting burnt out
- From feeling overwhelmed
- Feel balanced with work and life
- Keep you at the highest level of integrity
- Optimize your time
- Keep your priorities in line
- Keep you mentally clear
- Maintain positive energy
- Keep positive relationships both personally and professionally
It is important when setting boundaries to communicate with your friends, family, and clients. Believe it or not, they cannot read your mind.😄 So, you have to tell them, in a loving way of course. For clients, you may want to add statements about your boundaries in your contracts with them if this applies to your business. Not all of our clients understand business etiquette or common practices. The same applies to our family and friends. So, a little education is not a bad thing. Just explain to them you can better serve them if XYZ boundaries are in place and respected.
When we don’t set boundaries it is easy for us to feel resentful, angry, irritable, burnt out, overwhelmed, and so much more. Setting boundaries is healthy in both your professional and personal life because they do relate to each other. Meaning if one is out of wack the other will feel it and people may suffer.
